Director of Operations, Distribution
The Business:
Our client, a $700M building products manufacturer and distributor is recognized as a progressive industry leader providing quality products manufactured in the U.S. and Canada, employing state-of-the-art robotics, precision welding equipment, and automated machining processes. They sell to OEM’s and dealers nationally. Headquartered in the Midwest, they have a strong 75-year history employing over 4,000 people and drive over $700M in revenue. While strong in manufacturing they are looking to grow their distribution arm which benefits from selling their own manufactured products. They can ship made to order product in 5 days and distribute them from anywhere in the US. They are looking for a strong operations leader in the building products industry who is well versed in all aspects of distribution.
The Opportunity:
As the Director of Operations, Distribution, this remote position offers an opportunity to lead operational excellence and grow the existing distribution arm organically and through acquisitions. You will have oversight to over 20 locations with 300 employees. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking and tactical execution, with hands-on experience in building products distribution operations but also complete understanding of growing sales to impact the P &L.
What You Will Need to Be Successful:
- 15+ years of experience in Building Product Distribution within a branch environment, with oversight of both operations and sales
- A balance of strategic vision and hands-on tactical execution
- Proven transformational leadership abilities, with a track record of leading change in complex and ambiguous environments
- Experience in post-acquisition integration, successfully merging and aligning new organizations
- Strong people leadership skills: the ability to attract, mentor, develop, and retain top talent
