The Opportunity
We are seeking a Procurement Director to lead procurement strategy for a thriving organization at a pivotal stage of growth and transformation. Reporting directly to the COO with oversight of inventory control and buyer teams, this is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role for a strategic procurement professional who excels at developing category strategies, building high-performing teams, and driving supplier partnerships that create competitive advantage.
The ideal candidate will be energized by the opportunity to align procurement strategy with business objectives, working cross-functionally with operations, sales, finance, and leadership teams across all locations. You’ll leverage the company’s rail spur and logistics infrastructure to optimize sourcing and fulfillment while driving innovation, technology, and operational excellence to deliver measurable results and long-term value.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Building products commodity expertise required
Deep knowledge of procurement and category management across core building materials including 2x dimensional lumber, boards, plywood and sheet goods, EWP, millwork, exterior products, and roofing systems with proven track record leading procurement strategy for organizations.
Strategic program ownership
Experience designing and implementing comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with business growth objectives, including program building, annual line program reviews, end-to-end vendor program development, and successfully driving partnerships through to General Managers and Outside Sales Representatives at the location level
Metrics-driven performance management
Demonstrated ability to establish and manage procurement metrics across all product categories, measuring supplier performance, cost savings, inventory turns, fill rates, and program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement
High EQ with collaborative leadership style
Transparent, trust-building approach with ability to influence across all levels of the organization and establish cross-functional relationships with operations, sales, finance, and leadership teams across multiple locations

Demonstrated ability to elevate procurement as a strategic function, develop talent, and mentor inventory control and buyer teams to deliver operational excellence while remaining hands-on and accessible
Strategic supplier management and sourcing expertise
Proven ability to lead vendor negotiations, contract management, sourcing initiatives, and performance optimization programs that deliver long-term, measurable impact and competitive advantage while supporting the branch network’s fulfillment capabilities
Technology and process innovation mindset
Track record leveraging procurement systems, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, visibility, and decision-making capabilities across sourcing, fulfillment, and inventory management
